French Inspired Girlcore

 



Bonne fête nationale to the French today! I purposefully put together an oufit that looks French-inspred for Bastille Day. The bow-embellished dress I chose is very girly. It can absolutely exemplify the current girlcore trend.

When adult women (especially those of us over 30) go for girlcore, the key is subtlety. Small bows will look more appropriate on us than big ones. Black bows will be more suitable for us than pink ones. Only without trying too hard will we naturally look younger.

Another pointer is for those of us with curves only: instead of a bra, wear a bustier inside the fit-and-flare dress. A bustier with a low back won't be too hot, especially if your dress has a low cut back. If you want the girlcore trend to flatter your figure, a bustier is indispensable.

Clueless-Inspired Yellow Plaid

  Can you believe it was 30 years ago when Clueless became a hit? Those of us who were kids then may still be kids at heart. So, why not put on a yellow plaid skirt for the sake of nostalgia? A yellow plaid set like Cher Horowitz's may be an overdose, too flashy for a grown-up when it's still two weeks away from Halloween. So, I chose to pair the yellow plaid skirt with this year's butter yellow crop jacket as an update. A light jacket is warm enough in the mild October weather of California. Honestly speaking, I'm now a little skinnier than I was in middle school. It takes a lot of discipline to constantly maintain a slim body figure after losing excessive puberty weight, but it's doable. I'm living proof.
