A Pink Gingham Dress & a Matching Hat for Barbiecore

 

Call me fashion forward. I bought this pink gingham midi dress last summer. Apparently, Tommy Hilfiger was ahead of the barbiecore game as well.

Have you seen the Barbie movie yet? If you haven't but plan to, why not buy a pink gingham dress first and then wear it to the movie theater? Don't forget to cinch the waist of the dress with a belt like the title character of the movie. However, you don't necessarily need a pink gingham belt. A solid pink belt that features a big bow at the center would be more figure flattering, because the bow will draw attention to the center and thus make the waist look narrower.

By the way, it's always a good idea to wear a sun hat on a hot summer day. So, why not put on a pink gingham hat for a matchy-matchy barbiecore look?

Clueless-Inspired Yellow Plaid

  Can you believe it was 30 years ago when Clueless became a hit? Those of us who were kids then may still be kids at heart. So, why not put on a yellow plaid skirt for the sake of nostalgia? A yellow plaid set like Cher Horowitz's may be an overdose, too flashy for a grown-up when it's still two weeks away from Halloween. So, I chose to pair the yellow plaid skirt with this year's butter yellow crop jacket as an update. A light jacket is warm enough in the mild October weather of California. Honestly speaking, I'm now a little skinnier than I was in middle school. It takes a lot of discipline to constantly maintain a slim body figure after losing excessive puberty weight, but it's doable. I'm living proof.
