Gray with Sparkles for the Holiday Season

Image
Gray is the new black this year. So, why not pair a gray turtleneck sweater with a gray bubble skirt that comes with shiny gold and silver sparkles? Personally, I love bubble skirts. Glad that they are still going to be on trend next year. One more reason to wear one toward the end of this year. BTW, gray goes very well with black. Adding a black belt to a gray outfit will generate a slimming effect, which we all need during the food-abundant holiday season.  Happy holidays!

A Pop of Orange for a Thanksgiving Outfit

Image
Orange is a trendy color right now. Think Taylor Swift! However, in case you prefer neutrals over bright colors, a pop of orange may work better for you than Taylor Swift's orange sweater. Why not cinch a tea length skirt in a neutral color with an vibrant orange belt for the upcoming Thanksgiving dinner? A belt can help you control your appetite. I chose a white long bubble skirt for it to resemble whip cream on pumpkin pie. Isn't the color coordination of this outfit reminiscent of Thanksgiving? If you don't like white skirts, a khaki skirt can give out a similar vibe.  BTW, the button-down shirt shown in this photo has orange pinstripes on a white background in case the pattern doesn't look clear enough.  Wish you a delightful Thanksgiving in advance!

Past & Present Halloween Costumes with Special Meanings

Image
This years marks the 30th anniversary of my favorite teen movie, Clueless , and the 100th anniversary of a wonderful novel, The Great Gatsby . So, I'm sharing a past photo of my Cher Horowitz costume and a recent photo of my Daisy Buchanan costume. The recent photo was taken at Hearst Castle. Perhaps you can consider one of these costumes for the upcoming Halloween? Happy Halloween!

Clueless-Inspired Yellow Plaid

Image
Can you believe it was 30 years ago when Clueless became a hit? Those of us who were kids then may still be kids at heart. So, why not put on a yellow plaid skirt for the sake of nostalgia? A yellow plaid set like Cher Horowitz's may be an overdose, too flashy for a grown-up when it's still two weeks away from Halloween. So, I chose to pair the yellow plaid skirt with this year's butter yellow crop jacket as an update. A light jacket is warm enough in the mild October weather of California. Honestly speaking, I'm now a little skinnier than I was in middle school. It takes a lot of discipline to constantly maintain a slim body figure after losing excessive puberty weight, but it's doable. I'm living proof. Willing to share my weight management tips with anyone interested. Happy autumn!

Taking a Purple Tank Top into Fall

Image
September is calling for dressing in layers. Don't put away summer tank tops yet, especially if you have purple tank tops. Purple will reign this fall. I love purple and own purple dresses. However, if you only want purple in small doses, a purple tank top layered under a denim jacket will look trendy, too.  Purple goes really well with denim blue. Why not tuck a purple tank top into a pair of blue jeans? Please note that blue jeans with black side stripes can create an illusion to make your waist and hips look a little smaller.  Happy autumn!

A Plaid Shirt & a Tea-Length Bubble Skirt

Image
Back-to-school sales are not just for kids. Adults can find good deals that are not too juvenile-looking. A plaid shirt is preppy, but not off-limits for adult women. It will make you look younger without trying too hard, and it never goes out of style. So, why not pick one from the current back-to-school sales? A currently trendy way to wear a plaid shirt right now is to pair it with a bubble skirt, which has been back in style since last year and is still going strong. If you are over 30, a tea-length bubble skirt may be more age-appropriate than a mini one. Happy shopping!

Spicing Up a T-shirt & Denim Skirt Combo

Image
It's easy to put together a T-shirt and denim skirt combo in summertime. A denim skirt works just as well as denim shorts in hot weather but looks slightly more formal. It's therefore more versatile. Why not pick a watercolor print T-shirt with some blue color on it to pair with your denim skirt? It will look more colorful and thus more cheerful than a plain T-shirt. It's also a good idea to belt your denim skirt. Please note that belts will be on trend this fall. So a belt will make you fashion forward. Before fall comes, happy summer!
